Dennis Philbin
CEO

Dennis Philbin is the CEO of Lux Research. He came to Lux Research after almost 13 years at IDC, a global leader in information services where he was a Senior Vice President, leading IDC's Vertical Market Business Units and New Ventures. At IDC, Dennis was responsible for new ventures expanding IDC's business portfolio in specific industry and role-based research. In this capacity, he led the design and launch of the series of "Insights" business units dedicated to industry-specific technology issues facing leaders in the financial services, energy, health, manufacturing, retail, and government sectors. In addition, he was responsible for the portfolio of products and services aimed at investors and industrial customers. Dennis also served as Managing Director of IDC Asia/Pacific, with general management responsibility for the company's 14 Asian country operations. During this time, IDC developed and delivered a strong regional strategy for the efficient, high-quality production of market research and advice in Asia. He has also served as an operating board member for IDG companies Computerworld and BioIT World.

Dennis received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and his Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin for his thesis on the funding of technological innovation.

Matthew M. Nordan
President

Matthew Nordan is the President of Lux Research. Coming to Lux Research from Forrester Research, Matthew held a variety of senior management positions where he headed the firm's North American consulting line of business and lived for four years in the Netherlands growing Forrester's operations in Europe. Matthew has testified before the U.S. Congress on nanotechnology issues and advised the Committee to Review the National Nanotechnology Initiative of the National Academies. He has also participated in developing public-sector technology strategy for the World Economic Forum, the European IT Observatory, and the Dutch transportation ministry. Matthew often comments on emerging technology on CNN and CNBC and has been widely cited in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and The Economist.

Matthew is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University, where he conducted cognitive neuroscience research on the neural pathways mediating emotion and memory.

Rob Burns
Senior Vice President

Rob Burns heads Lux Research's direct sales organization and manages the company's relationships with worldwide clients and distributors. Rob comes to Lux Research from Gartner Group, where he previously served as Global Account Manager and was one of the firm's top 5 producing sales executives worldwide. Before Gartner, he served as Datastream Software's Regional Director for the Northeast US and Eastern Canada, and a Sales Executive at ADP.

Rob has a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Maryland and an M.B.A. in International Business from The George Washington University.

Mark Bünger
Director of Research

Mark Bünger is the Director of Research at Lux Research based in the firm's San Francisco office. Mark joined Lux Research with 14 years of business strategy experience, both as a management consultant and technology analyst. Previous work experience includes Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, International Engagement Manager at European consultancy Icon Medialab, and Managing Director of Icon Medialab's U.S. office. The first six years of Mark's career were spent at Accenture in the U.S., U.K., and Sweden.

Mark's education includes International Marketing at Mälardalen Polytechnic in Sweden, and Market Research at the University of Texas in the U.S. He also studied biochemistry through the University of California at Berkeley's extension program. Mark speaks English, Swedish, and German, and is conversant in French, Spanish, and other European languages.
