The Lux Executive Summit is a global forum for leaders tackling innovation challenges. The event brings together Lux Research’s thought leaders to provide a forward-looking perspective on innovation around mission-critical topics. This year, the event focuses on the growing prominence of sustainability.
This year's virtual event will feature the brightest minds in your industry, sharing cutting-edge insight that will help put sustainability at the heart of innovation. Along with expert presentations, panel discussions, and keynote speakers, we have hand-selected 20 different start-up companies to pitch their innovations to our event attendees during our Ideathons.
Each of the event's four different tracks will host its own Ideathon, related to the track theme. This will be a one-hour session during which five start-up companies will share more information about their initiatives and innovations. After all five pitches, attendees will be asked to vote for the best pitch.

With growing pressure on governments and corporations to reduce GHG emissions and address sustainability challenges, climate tech has emerged as the new focus for global economies to mitigate the impacts of climate change. In this Ideathon, we will explore how five startups are tackling the climate challenge with both technology and business model innovations in industrial energy use, energy storage, and circular economy. You will hear insight on emerging topics ranging from low-carbon processes like steel production and ammonia synthesis to novel platforms for material discovery and waste recycling.
track 2: circular economy
ideathon host: xiao zhong, Ph.D., senior analyst at lux research

Driven by the growing customer and regulatory pressures, it is imperative for companies in the physical industry to cut CO2 emissions, eliminate waste, and mitigate environmental impacts. Meeting these challenges and enabling a circular economy to require innovations in technology and business model. We have five start-ups that are tackling this challenge using very different tools and models. You will see how tools like synthetic biology, AI/ML, data infrastructure, and online platforms play a role in optimizing business functions such as R&D, product development, manufacturing, sales & marketing, and logistics. You will also see how to recycle traditionally non-recyclable waste by new technologies and business models.
track 3: emerging tecH
ideathon host: cole mccollum, analyst at lux research
- Murray Reed Ph.D., CEO at QLM Technology
- Ariella Charny, CMO at Albo Systems
- Camiel Verschoor, Founder and CEO at Birds.ai
- Devesh Bharadwaj, CEO at Pani Energy
- Fazal Mahmood, CEO at Phaseshift Technologies
Digital innovations play a critical role in reducing costs and increasing the scalability of sustainability initiatives. In this Ideathon, we’ll hear from startups that are using emerging digital tools such as sensors, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle various sustainability challenges. These include everything from improving the monitoring and measurement of assets, carbon, and greenhouse gases to optimizing industrial processes and materials development.
track 4: the future consumer
ideathon host: Charles willard, analyst at lux research

As innovation forges ahead, business and retail consumers become more discerning and demanding in the products and capabilities they expect from the market. This Ideathon explores five segments that startups are navigating with novel technologies and business models to provide added value to their future consumers. To that end, digital sales platforms are optimizing slow-moving industries like chemicals, while customized products, connected medicine, and personalized nutrition are helping consumers acquire goods and services that are tailored to their specifications. Meanwhile, efforts in supply chain traceability and transparency are improving logistics efficiency and ensuring the origin and quality of products – a crucial factor as the circular economy comes further into play.
