Introducing Matt Stanley from BDC Capital
Matt is a Director in BDC Capital's Clean Technology Fund where he is responsible for investing in early-stage Canadian clean technology companies to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and climate-resilient world. The fund invests in clean technology companies across the spectrum from early-stage venture through to growth to help scale climate solutions.
Prior to joining BDC Capital, Matt worked with IKEA (Ingka Group), where he supported the creation of a new corporate venture investment group based in the Netherlands and led strategic investments to support IKEA’s global sustainability strategy, People & Planet Positive. The team invested globally across four core areas: sustainable urban living; circular economy; electrification of transport; and new retail technologies & e-commerce. Matt also previously worked within IKEA's Sustainability Innovation team, based in Sweden, where he managed global innovation projects, led explorations into emerging technologies and spaces for IKEA, and helped to pilot and launch new ventures for IKEA.
Prior to IKEA, Matt worked as a strategy and sustainability advisor with both Deloitte and EY in Canada and the UK. He holds a Masters in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge (UK), where his research focused on the impact of low carbon transport on public health in cities, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University (Canada).
He currently lives in Canada with his wife and two young boys.
