Matilde della Fontana is a Research Associate at Lux and contributes to the Materials and Manufacturing team’s coverage of sustainable packaging and biobased materials and chemicals in the consumer packaged goods industry. In this role, she researches sustainable materials and packaging solutions that support the circular economy. She looks at technology developments of packaging materials, alternative dye technologies, and circular packaging design and waste systems, among others.
Prior to joining Lux, Matilde worked at the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials, where she investigated the sustainability of biobased materials applying the life cycle assessment methodology to quantify their environmental impact. She holds a B.Sc. in Materials Science from Milano-Bicocca University and an M.Sc. in Biobased Materials from Maastricht University, where she was also awarded the Menno Knetsch Award for her contribution to the scientific domain of biobased materials and their applications and innovative aspects.
